Apple IIGS Upgrade (1986)

The Apple IIGS Upgrade is the rarest Apple II model computer ever sold. I’d wager to guess there are maybe a couple hundred or so around. At the same time the IIGS came out, Apple announced a “deal” in which you could bring in your old Apple IIe to an Apple dealer and for $499 they would upgrade your machine. This included swapping the motherboard, installing a new base plate and pasting on some new branding. This was one of my luckiest finds as it was part of a free local pickup along with some other goodies. Based on the markings etched into it, this was used in a school. Our tax dollars spent to good use.
