Bell & Howell Apple II (1979)

This was a Bell & Howell licensed version of the Apple II or II Plus that featured a modified, black case and was nicknamed the “Darth Vader” Apple II. Among the new features was a more accessible joystick port on the side and an optional backpack that had support for additional audio and video controls and included a built-in lock mechanism for preventing the lid from being opened while turned on and thus making it UL certified, a requirement for some school districts. This model was sold exclusively to educational institutions and was one of only 2 licensed Apple II computers, the other being the Clear Light SuperStar. Check out my review of this computer.
